CHEYENNE – The Eastern Wyoming College (EWC) Lady Lancers volleyball team dominated the scoreboard from the opening match at the Region IX championships in Cheyenne to the final match to secure the regional title on Friday, November 8
EWC kicked off the tournament with a clean sweep against McCook Community College on Wednesday.
The Lady Lancers advanced to the semifinals on Friday evening to defeat Central Wyoming College in three sets.
The match for the regional title pitted EWC against the host team, Laramie County Community College (LCCC). Pulling out all the stops, the Lady Lancers swept LCCC to claim the Region IX championship.

McCook
EWC trounced McCook Community College in three sets, 25-13, 25-20 and 25-21.
Freshman Una Stepic set the momentum for the Lady Lancers offense with 14 kills. Fellow freshman Amarie Huntsman contributed 11 kills with six apiece by sophomores Siala Unufe and Belle Dolan. Freshmen Mina Milivojevic and Annika Cantrell both tallied four kills with two from sophomore Emma Blackstar and one by sophomore Neeley Rutledge.
Sophomore Baylor Rodgers and Blackstar delivered 19 and 18 assists, respectively.
Sophomore Boden Liljedahl and freshman Vladana Ristic both aced two serves while Rodgers and Rutledge each totaled one ace.
Defensively, Liljedahl covered the floor as libero with 18 digs. Unufe reached up for three blocks with two by Milivojevic and one each from Stepic, Cantrell and Dolan.
Central Wyoming
The Lady Lancers won the first set by four, 25-21. EWC went on to score two decisive points in the second set to defeat Central Wyoming, 25-23.
The Lady Lancers left it all on the court in the third set to win, 25-18.
Huntsman led the EWC offense with 14 kills. Stepic collected 10 kills, Dolan eight, Milivojevic and Unufe each four with one by Liljedahl.
Rutledge and Stepic both aced three serves. Liljedahl and Unufe each served up two aces with one by Ristic.
Blackstar set up 21 assists and Liljedahl posted 18 digs.
Cantrell and Unufe both defended the net with four blocks. Milivojevic and Huntsman each totaled two blocks with one apiece by Stepic and Dolan.
LCCC
The Lady Lancers pulled ahead by two to win the first set against LCCC, 25-23. EWC trounced LCCC in the second set, 25-10, before going on to defeat LCCC in the third set, 25-22.
Two Lady Lancers tallied double-digit kills against LCCC, led by Huntsman with 12 and Stepic 11. Unufe recorded seven kills, Milivojevic and Dolan five each, Cantrell two and Rodgers one.
On the service line, Liljedahl scored five aces. Rodgers served up two aces while Ristic, Stepic and Unufe each totaled one.
Rodgers delivered 17 assists and Blackstar 16.
On defense, Liljedahl totaled 17 digs. Unufe and Huntsman both reached up for three blocks while Milivojevic, Stepic and Dolan each tallied one block.
