GUERNSEY – The Lingle-Fort Laramie (LFL) Lady Doggers volleyball team returned the momentum to its favor with a clean sweep against Guernsey-Sunrise at an away match on Thursday, October 17.
LFL won the first two sets, 25-14 and 25-19. The third set turned into a point-for-point battle between the Lady Doggers and Lady Vikings. Guernsey managed to tie the set several times before LFL came together to score two decisive points to defeat the Lady Vikings, 25-23, and win the match.
The Lady Doggers remain the No. 2 seed in the 1A Southeast Quadrant with an 8-1 conference record going into the final week of the regular season.
“This was a much-needed game,” coach Emily Cottrell said. “We are working on some different aspects of our game, including different positional work and speed. We were able to put those changes to work in the game and found success. Overall, my goal was to refocus on the elements we can control, play together and celebrate even the small wins and we did that collectively. The leadership I saw some of the girls take and the cohesiveness of the team were a big win for us.”
