Lady Cyclones sweep Hornets

YODER – The Southeast High School volleyball team swept the Pine Bluffs Lady Hornets 3-0 to pick up the win on Homecoming.

The Lady Cyclones defeated Pine Bluffs, 25-20, 25-20, 25-22 for the team’s eighth win of the season.

Junior Sydney Anderson with nine kills, while senior Jordan Stoddard and junior Shelby Ekwall had six apiece. Stoddard served up a team-high four aces, while senior Grace Desmond had two and Anderson one. Herring dished out eight assists, while sophomore Bailey Booth had six.

On the defensive side of the net, Stoddard tallied seven of the team’s 11 blocks, while sophomore Sasha Haines had nine digs, while Anderson had eight. Junior Brenna Herring and Desmond had seven apiece.

The Lady Cyclones also went to the Lusk Tournament on Saturday.

Southeast went 1-3 at the tournament, with the team’s lone win coming against the Hulett Lady Red Devils.

In the win, Southeast defeated Hulett 25-17, 23-25, 15-3.

Anderson led the team with seven kills, while Ekwall had five. Stoddard had two blocks, while Booth and Herring had two aces each. Anderson also tallied a team-high 13 digs, while Herring had 11. Herring also had 11 assists.

Southeast dropped the other three matches, including to Wright, Upton and Moorcroft.

Against Wright, Southeast fell 25-22, 25-17.

Herring had five kills. Stoddard had 10 digs, while Desmond had seven. Herring had six assists.

Against Upton, the Lady Bobcats won set one 25-17, but Southeast won set two 25-15 to force a third set. The deciding set went down to the wire, but Upton edged Southeast, 15-14.

Stoddard recorded five kills and two blocks, while Herring had four kills and two blocks. Anderson had 17 digs, while Herring added 10 digs and 11 assists.

Against Moorcroft, Southeast won the first set 25-21 but dropped the next two sets 25-22, 15-12 in the 2-1 loss to the Lady Wolves.

Anderson tallied six of the team’s 13 kills, and Herring had two aces. Stoddard had two blocks, and Haines had 10 digs.

Southeast (9-7) hits the road for a pair of contests this weekend with trips to Wright on Friday and Glenrock on Saturday. First serve is set for 5 p.m. Friday and 3 p.m. Saturday.
