The EWC rodeo team kicked off the spring portion of the season at the Gillette College rodeo.

GILLETTE – To kick the spring season off, the Eastern Wyoming College (EWC) Lancer rodeo team traveled to Gilette for the Pronghorn Rodeo from March 14-16.
During the weekend, five Lancer athletes made it back to short-go Sunday.
The Lancer men’s team placed ninth overall in Gillette with 110 points.
Carter Anderson, a sophomore from Merriman, Nebraska, and Dalton Moore, also a sophomore from Lyman, South Dakota, had a great weekend in the team roping. In the long round, the team posted an 8.3-second run to place fourth going into the short-go.
On Sunday, Anderson and Moore had a consistent run with a time of 17.4 seconds, placing third in the average on the weekend.
Camryn Kocian, a sophomore from Brainard, Nebraska, had a good weekend in the barrel racing. In the long-go, the Lancer had a smoking 14.48-second run to place fifth going into the short-go.
In the short-go, Kocian had a bit of tough luck but still clocked a time of 19.86 seconds, allowing her to place 10th in the average for the weekend.
In steer wrestling, Taydon Gorsuch of Gering, Nebraska had a 7.2-second run in the long round, placing seventh going into the short-go.
After having some tough luck on Sunday, Gorsuch ended up placing ninth in the average for the weekend.
In the breakaway roping, Kailee Gill, a sophomore from Moorcroft, had a fast 3.1-second run in the long round to place 10th going into short-go Sunday. Gill ended up placing 10th in the average for the weekend.
It was a great weekend to kick off the first Spring rodeo. EWC hosts the Lancer Rode in Torrington from March 28-30.
