CHEYENNE – Caleigh Essert shot an even par 70 Thursday during the Cheyenne Invitational and helped pave the way for the Torrington girls golf team to pick up a third-place finish.
Essert’s par on Thursday was followed up by a 73 Friday, putting her two-day score at 143. She bested the second-place finisher by 13 strokes.
Laura Halley snuck into the top-10 on the leader board. She carded a 98 on the first day, but rallied to shot a career-best 84 Friday to snag 10th with a two-day score of 182. Audrey Perry rounded out the top-three for the Lady Blazers, shooting a 106 on the first day and 105 on the second day, finishing 25th with a two-day score of 211.
The top-three Lady Blazers combined to shoot a 274 on Thursday and a 262 Friday. Their two-day score of 536 was good enough for third, only behind Kelly Walsh (491) and Natrona (501).
