Dog waste and graffiti: residents beware

Posted

TORRINGTON – The City of Torrington is urging the community to properly dispose of pet waste in and around public areas.

In a recent press release, the city said due to the fair amount of dog waste on and around the baseball and softball fields, walking paths, and cemetery, they are asking for help from residents.

“People use these public areas year-round, and it is discouraging to have to patrol the areas before use. All of the sports fields have signage asking people that do have animals on the fields to have them on a leash and clean up waste after them on every occurrence,” the release stated. “People do not use the sports fields, walking paths, or the cemetery to let animals run loose.”

The city is also experiencing graffiti in and around the same public areas and they would like residents to report new graffiti in town.

The City of Torrington now offers a new feature, TextMyGov, for residents to learn what’s going on in the city. The feature also has a service to report anything out of the ordinary or new graffiti.

“If you happen to see anything out of the ordinary or new graffiti somewhere please report it with the QR Code or link below,” the release continued.
