LINGLE – Felonious drug charges have been filed for a 36-year-old Lingle man, Patrick Sheldon Jernigan.

Jernigan has been charged with one count of possession with the intent to deliver and one count of felony possession according to court documents recently filed in the Circuit Court for the Eighth Judicial District in Goshen County.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, Lingle Police Department Chief Endra Andrews was dispatched to the 200 blocks of Connely and Reid Avenues in Lingle on Saturday, April 12 at approximately 9:24 a.m. for the report of a female (Doe) and male (Jernigan) arguing. Andrews met the Goshen County Sherriff’s Department at the scene a few moments later. When Andrews approached the residence, she was met by Jernigan. Doe stated she did not want Jernigan on the property and according to the affidavit, she further told Andrews she was watching the house for a friend who was currently housed at the detention center. Authorities contacted the inmate and they were informed there were only two people who were allowed in the home and Jernigan was not one. After Doe explained Jernigan had been using a window well to gain access to the home, a search was conducted of the home, upon permission from the inmate.

“The window was open,” Andrews explains in the affidavit.

Authorities pulled backpacks, a duffle bag and a coat from the window well and according to the affidavit, a baggie containing a white crystalline substance fell out of the coat. Upon further inspection of the room Jernigan had been staying in, authorities discovered a broken pipe, plastic tubing and various other drug related contraband. Authorities searched the luggage in the backyard where they discovered even more contraband including multiple baggies of a white crystalline substance, Narcan and prescription medications.

Upon further testing, authorities confirmed the crystalline substance was methamphetamine.

“The field test kit indicated presumptive positive for the presence of methamphetamine. The total weight of the suspected methamphetamine seized was 25.3 grams, with trace amounts on a scale,” the affidavit explained.

Jernigan was booked into the Goshen County Detention Center in Torrington on Saturday, where he remains.
