Community band, choir entertain audiences

TORRINGTON – A December music concert featuring the Eastern Wyoming College (EWC) Choir and Band was held at the college on December 8.

The community choir, directed by Aaron Bahmer, featured almost twenty voices performing multi-part harmonies in a variety of musical styles. The concert opened with the French folk song Je ne l’ose dire and included familiar Christmas numbers such as I’ll Be Home for Christmas and Go, Tell It on the Mountain. An arrangement of I Wonder as I Wander featured soloist Ryan Wunibald.

The band then performed Abington Ridge Overture, directed by Gary Glass. The concert also featured Lindsay Barnes on djembe in an African Bell Choir interpretation of Carol of the Bells. Bahmer also directed Gaelic Dances, and the performance concluded with Let’s All Sing for Christmas, where the audience was invited to join in a medley of Christmas songs.

The Community Band and Choir is open to all musicians in the local area and follows the EWC semester schedule, typically rehearsing on Monday evenings. For more information, contact Aaron Bahmer at EWC.
