TORRINGTON – Smoking the competition in the scramble portion put Bunkhouse Trailer Sales in the lead and a 59 in the bronc riding portion of the ninth-annual ranch rodeo Thursday at the Goshen County Fair sealed the win.
Wes Mauer, Clint Sterkel, Jordan Sterkel and Andy Sherfey of Bunkhouse Trailer Sales was the only team to complete the scramble portion without an infraction. Their time of 3:58 was more than three minutes faster than the second-place team.
In the scramble round, Mauer, Sterkel, Sterkel and Sherfey completed the four tasks required faster than any other foursome. They separated and mock branded a calf, separated out and mock milked a cow, separated out a cow and doctored it and separated out a steer and loaded it into a trailer in the arena. They did all of that without allowing any unwanted cows from the herd crossing the penalty line.
