LINGLE – On September 24, 10-year-old William “Will” Duffy was injured in an ATV accident and friends of the family asked the community for support.
According to a Facebook post, Will was flown to Denver where the decision was made to amputate the majority of one arm.
Late Monday evening, Terra Ochsner, a close friend of the family, reach out to provide an update on the young man’s condition.
“Will got to be at home this entire week prior to his surgery in Denver on Friday, October 4, to get his wound closed up. He is doing incredibly well, and according to his parents (Miles and Sharlet Duffy), hasn’t shed a tear about pain throughout this entire ordeal,” Ochsner said.
Funds were being raised on both GoFundMe and the Pinnacle Bank in Torrington.
“He (Will) is determined to do things on his own and has been surprisingly quick to adapt to using his left hand for everything. His siblings have also been eager to step up and help him out,” Ochsner explained. “The family is so grateful for all the love and support they have received and are overwhelmed by the generosity of so many.”
According to Ochsner, funds are still being collected and will go directly to the significant costs that will come with prosthesis, therapies, travel and more.
