CHEYENNE – According to a recent announcement, the American Legion Auxiliary announced the application period is now open for the 2025 session of Wyoming Girls State, a premier leadership and civic program for young women. This year the program will be held at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne on June 8 to June 14.
“Wyoming Girls State provides high school junior girls from across the state with a unique, hands-on opportunity to learn about the inner workings of state and local government. Over the course of the week, participants will create and run their own mock government, hold elections, debate bills and engage in a wide range of activities designed to develop their leadership and public speaking skills,” the announcement explained.
Event participants will have the opportunity to meet and interact with local government officials and community leaders, develop friendships with other motivated young Wyoming women and participate in simulated government which includes elections, legislative session and court proceedings.
“Wyoming Girls State is open to high school junior girls (rising seniors) from across Wyoming. Applications are available through American Legion Auxiliary units and school guidance counselors,” the release explained. “The application deadline is February 15, 2025.”
