GILLETTE – Both Torrington Little League All-Star teams picked up a pair of wins over Laramie to advance to the semifinal round of the District No. 2 Tournament in Gillette.

The 11-12-year old team moved on with a 7-3 victory over Laramie.

The older all-stars plated four runs in the top of the second. Barrett Bruch tripled, driving in the first run of the game. Lincoln Speckner line drive and a passed ball gave Torrington a 3-0 lead. James Stienmetz stole home to make it 4-0.

Laramie answered with three runs in the bottom of the second. The score remained 4-3 until the fourth inning.

In the fourth, Stienmetz drove in Asher Mattis with a line drive to right. Later in the inning, Morgan Cross singled, scoring Bruch, and Stienmetz scored on a wild pitch.

It proved to be the final run either team scored in the game.

Bruch went 3-for-3 at the plate, scoring twice, while Speckner, Stienmetz and Cross tallied two hits apiece.

Garrett Hager picked up the win, pitching two innings and striking out three.

In the 9-10-year-old game, Torrington defeated Laramie 11-6.

Torrington jumped out to a 5-0 lead through the first two innings, but Laramie stormed back with three runs in the third, one in the fourth and two in the fifth to take a 6-5 lead.

In the bottom of the fifth, Owen Curry started the six-run frame with a leadoff single. Chase Moeller walks and Case Gonzalez singled to lead the bases with no out. Barrett Perales walked to tie the game at six. Ayden Smith broke the tie with a single. Gonzalez stole home, and Hudson Hoffman singled, driving in two more. Curry drove in the final run of the six-run frame and the game.

Curry put away Laramie in the sixth inning with a strike out, ground out and fly out.

Patrick Mortimore, Caden Ryall, Hoffman, Curry, Gonzalez and Smith all had two hits each in the win.
