COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Southeast Valley Club Volleyball team captured top honors recently in regional tournament play here.
The team, made up of middle school-age athletes, competed at Thomas B. Doherty’s High School Gymnasium in only their second tournament together as a team.

Coaches Kate Steinbock and Glenda Schmitt are excited about this new batch of volleyball girls coming into high school next year and what it could mean for Southeast’s volleyball program in the future. While this team is still young, they performed well in the out-of-state competition, the coaches said.
“We play in the Rocky Mountain Region,” Steinbock said. “So, all of our tournaments are somewhere in the Denver/Front Range area.”
In their opening outing, the team recorded a third-place tournament finish in 15-and-under youth division play before bringing home the gold from Colorado Springs.
“It was a long weekend,” Steinbock said. “But they just keep getting better and better.”
