MITCHELL, Neb. – Anna Mae McElheny, 93, died Jan. 11, 2020, at the Mitchell Care Center.

Per Anna’s request, there will be no services. Colyer Funeral Home assisted with the cremation.

Memorials can be made to the family for a future donation, in Anna’s name, to the new assisted living center in Torrington. 

Anna was born Nov. 22, 1926, in Goshen County, the daughter of Henry A. and Mary Ella (Prentice) Garrelts. She graduated from Yoder High School and later married David W. McElheny in Yoder on Dec. 21, 1958. The couple resided in Oceanside, Calif., until their later years, when they moved back to the area. They loved to fish and travel.

Survivors include her niece Patricia and Berry Nichol and family; nephews, Dwayne and Jacquie Sandlian, Craig and Lennie Sandlian, Bryan and Anne Sandlian, Rob Garrelts and Gene and Brenda Garrelts and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Earl, Alvin “Sonny” and Glen; and two sisters, Edna “Peewee” and Barbara.
