TORRINGTON – Jerald Duane (Jerry) Fegler, 72, died on April 24, 2024, at his home in Torrington. Per Jerry’s wishes – cremation has taken place, and a private family celebration of Jerry’s life will be held at a later time.

Jerry was born May 6, 1952, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, the son of Robert (Bob) and Helen (Sittner) Fegler.  Jerry grew up on a farm South of Stegall Nebraska and received his early education at Owl Creek School, near Stegall, and then later graduated from Morrill High School in Morrill, Nebraska.

At a young age Jerry had a keen interest in basketball and honed his skills at Owl Creek School and by high school he earned the title of “Radar” because of his excellent shooting skills. Growing up – Jerry, his father Bob and brother Ken competed often in pool games in the family home. A few years later three generations, including Grandpa (Bob) Fegler, Ken, Jerry and all the grandsons enjoyed playing pool and ‘Horse Basketball’ together. Jerry was an avid golfer, and he enjoyed many great times with very good friends golfing until ill health kept him from playing. At that time, he looked forward to and enjoyed golf competitions on television.

Jerry is survived by a granddaughter, McKenna Crabill of Big Springs, California; his brother, Ken (Penni) of Lyman, Nebraska and their three children – Scott Fegler, Kristopher (Melinda) Fegler and niece Stacie Kallsen; sister Carol (Kirby) Myers and nephews – Jody, Jeffrey (Kenna), and Rob (Lori) Jackson. Jerry has six great nephews as well - Jamie and Hunter Fegler, Kaden Kallsen, Kalem, Tyler and Jaden Jackson. Great nieces include – Halle Fegler, Ashley, Lexi, Josie and Jolie Jackson.

Jerry farmed for a number of years in the Lyman area and after retiring from farming he enjoyed playing golf, gardening and assisting in the family farm operation when needed.

Great nephew Jamie Fegler and wife Meghan, live close to Jerry’s home and have been a great help to Jerry as his health declined the last few years.

Jerry was best known for his “stark honesty,” his dry sense of humor, and his love of sports – especially golf!

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Helen Fegler and his only child Brandt Crabill in 2013.

Jerry will be missed by his extended family and his friends.
