WYO Help closes Torrington office

TORRINGTON – On the evening of Wednesday, February 26, WYO Help, a community action partnership serving Washakie, Carbon, Niobrara, Crook, Weston and Goshen Counties announced the local resource offices, including the Torrington office, will soon be closing their doors.

“Due to a change in funding our local resource offices will be closing starting in the month of March. Once a physical office closes the staff member will begin working remotely to provide you resources online through March 20 or until they have secured alternative employment. Unfortunately, due to the change in our funding it does mean that our resource coordinators will be unavailable beyond March,” the announcement read. “Our administrative staff will work diligently to continue to provide you resources online. It is recommended that you use the website to schedule appointments, to request assistance, or to communicate by email. Due to shifting from a staff of eight to a staff of two we are unlikely to be able to handle the 7,000 phone calls we typically handle in a month. You can find more information at https://www.wyohelp.com/.”

According to the announcement, the food pantry located in Rawlins will have last food distribution on March 14 and the Torrington pantry could continue with enough support from the community.

“The food pantry in Torrington will continue so long as we have sufficient volunteers and local donations. We no longer have grants to help support our food pantries and are dependent upon local donations,” WYO Help explained. “Our Torrington office will only operate as a food pantry and will not be available to provide other resources. If you would like to help keep our pantry in Torrington open with a donation please go to https://www.wyohelp.com/donations.html and select Goshen County as your option.”

According to the organizations Facebook, offices in Washakie County were closed on February 21. The organization also indicated a new program could be in the works for July 2025. Further details have not been released.
