Wilson wins Gering XC Invite

GERING, Neb. – Sophomore Sully Wilson picked up his first cross country win of the season on Friday at the Gering XC Invite held at the Five Rocks Amphitheatre in Gering, Nebraska.

The Torrington runner won the 5K in 17 minutes, 17.35 seconds, finishing 15 seconds ahead of second place Axton Stone of Gering.

Senior Zab Munoz finished eighth in 18:41.98, while senior Myles Wilson was 28th in 21:10.12. Ty Albaugh placed 60th in 24:25.81. Camden Lambert was 65th in 27:30.17.

As a team, the Blazers finished fourth with 88 points. Gering won the team title with 28, while Alliance, Nebraska was second with 29. Scottsbluff, Nebraska was third with 78.

In the girls’ division, sophomore Kaycee Kosmicki paced the Lady Blazers with an eighth-place finish in 23:08.59, while junior Callie Taylor was 12th in 23:39.05.

In the junior varsity division, sophomore Brody Harrison was 31st in 27:26.12, while freshman Cora Taylor was 11th in 26:31.62.

The Blazer runners are back in action on Friday, Sept. 8 in Kimball, Nebraska.
