LINGLE – Eastern Wyoming College (EWC) in partnership with the University of Wyoming (UW) Agriculture Experiment Station will host its 1st combined North Platte Valley Ag Expo and University of Wyoming Field Day on August 22nd at the James C. Hageman Sustainable Agriculture Research and Extension Center (SAREC) in Lingle, WY.
SAREC was formed in 2002 as the result of combining the Archer Center and Torrington Center. The campus consists of 1,522 acres of dryland cropland, 349 acres of irrigated cropland, 1,880 acres of rangeland, 19 acres of irrigated organic cropland, 40 acres of dryland organic cropland, a feedlot, and a livestock research laboratory.
The Ag Expo and Field Day will begin at 9 am with remarks from EWC and UW administrators and other guests. The Field Day portion will run from 9:30 a.m. to noon offering attendees a review of the research being conducted by faculty and students as well as learning about the latest trends in agriculture.
After the guided field tours, attendees are invited to a complimentary lunch provided by UW and EWC. This will be followed by a presentation from keynote speaker, entrepreneur and Wyoming native, Ron Rabou. Rabou’s farm, located in Albin, WY, was featured as one of three national finalists by Farm Journal for Top Producer of the Year. He is co-host of the Ag Inspo Podcast, a columnist, and a nationally known author and speaker. His newest book “Make Your OWN Way” shares his personal story of breaking the mold and creating independence in American agriculture.
Following Rabou’s presentation, attendees can join multiple companies from around the region for equipment demonstrations and representatives from leading suppliers. This will include a commercial demo as well as the latest precision ag equipment.
This event, which is free and open to the public, will take place at 2753 State Highway 157. It will begin at 9 a.m. and wrap up with a closing reception beginning at 5 p.m. Registration information can be found by visiting https://bootsproductions.regfox.com/agexpo.
