TORRINGTON – Last week, members of the TVFD convened for their Annual Awards Banquet. At the banquet, the Torrington Fire team and honored guests reflected on the past year’s achievements and milestones as well as recognized the unwavering dedication of those who serve the community throughout the year. A key highlight of the evening was the presentation of awards, honoring individuals for their years of service, commitment, and exemplary contributions to the department.
Gary Heil was commended for an extraordinary 50 years of service, while Cactus Covello was recognized for 45 years of dedication. Jeff Bohnenkamp received accolades for 35 years of service. Both Jeff Schick and Brian Kingsley were honored for their 20 years of commitment. Brett Bennick was acknowledged for 15 years of service. Additionally, Tyler Cearns, Michael Furrey, Brandon Gasseling, and Christy Schick were each celebrated for their five years of dedication to the department.
In addition to these milestones, special recognitions were awarded to outstanding individuals. Samuel Oliva was honored as Special Person of the Year. Seth Norris was named Rookie of the Year in recognition of his outstanding performance. Dale Mundt Jr. received the prestigious Chief’s Award for his exceptional contributions. Finally, Michael Schuler was distinguished as Firefighter of the Year, commending his dedication and tireless service to the community.
The commitment and selflessness exhibited by these individuals are truly commendable. Their invaluable service to the fire department and the community does not go unnoticed. Congratulations to all the award recipients, and sincere gratitude for their continued dedication and sacrifice.
