DOUGLAS – The Torrington 11-12-year-old All-Stars hit two home runs in the second inning en route to a 20-0 rout of the Platte County All-Stars on Monday afternoon in the District No.2 Tournament opener.

Kane Correa and Bryce Booth connected on home runs in the second to spark an 11-run second.

After a scoreless first inning, Correa left no doubt, leading off the top of the second with a home run over the center field fence.

It was only the start of the inning.

Ebin Hunter triple and Colby Groene singled before Booth hit the team’s second home run of the inning, pushing the All-Stars lead to 4-0.

Marek Nunnes walked, Brody Shields tripled, Asher Mattis singled, Barrett Bruch walked, and Owen Curry tripled, extending Torrington’s lead to 9-0. Hunter singled for the second hit of the inning, driving in another run. The All-Stars also scored on a passed ball.

Torrington continued to hit the ball in the third, adding nine more runs before Correa retired Platte County in order in the bottom half of the inning to lock up the victory.

As a team, the All-Stars tallied 17 hits. Patrick Mortimore, Curry, Correa, Hunter, Groene, Chase Moeller and Booth all had two hits apiece in the inning.
