Tigers ‘C’ squad beats Alliance

ALLIANCE – The Torrington Tigers ‘C’ Legion team traveled to play Alliance in a double-header on Friday, May 31, picking up two more wins for the summer season.

The Tigers controlled the scoreboard in the first game to secure a 5-2 victory. Three runs in the top of the fifth inning by Torrington pulled the visitors up and clinched the game for the Tigers.

Brody Shields set the pace against Alliance with two hits in the first game. James Stienmetz had one hit for two RBI while Barrett Bruch stole two bases.

Kane Correa pitched for the Tigers in the first game, striking out two.

In the second game, Alliance found itself ahead, 4-2, at the bottom of the second. Digging deep, the Tigers fought back in the top of the fourth, scoring six runs to capture an 8-5 win against Alliance.

Shields singled in the fourth inning for two runs. Overall, Asher Mattis led the Tigers in hits with two.

Stienmetz started as pitcher for Torrington in the second game, striking out three. Mattis and Bruch each played relief pitcher. 

Up next, the Tigers ‘C’ team travels to play the Laramie Rangers for a double-header on Wednesday evening beginning at 4 p.m. The Tigers host WESTCO on June 9.
