POWELL – he Torrington Tigers ‘A’ Legion team ended its season at the state tournament in Powell following a 10-5 loss to the Casper Drillers on Monday.

Torrington kicked off the state tournament with a game against the Lovell Mustangs on Saturday, July 27. Following a close first inning with Lovell up by only one run, 3-2, the Mustangs scored four runs in the top of the third inning and five in the fifth to secure the win, 13-3.
The Tigers battled back in a consolation game against Gillette Rustlers that came down to the wire. Gillette found itself ahead, 7-5, at the end of the second inning.
Torrington responded with four runs in the top of the third to take control of the scoreboard, 9-7. Gillette edged up and tied the game, 11-11, in the bottom of the sixth inning.
The Tigers scored a decisive run in the top of the seventh inning when Caleb Kelly singled for one RBI. The Torrington defense shut out Gillette in the bottom of the seventh inning and the Tigers captured the win, 12-11.
