Tiger ‘B’ team takes two from Wheatland

TORRINGTON – The Torrington Tiger ‘B’ team wrapped up its home schedule on Monday with a pair of run-ruled victories over the Wheatland Lobos.

In game one, Drew Kramer got the offense going with a two-out triple. An error and a single by Caleb Kelly gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead en route to a 14-2 victory.

In the second inning, Wheatland was able to record two quick outs before Colby Sandusky singled to start another two-run frame. Wyler Fisher and Rhett Clark walked to load the bases, and Kramer doubled driving in two runs.

Wheatland answered with two runs of its own in the top of the third, but Torrington capped off the game with five runs in the third and fourth innings.

Kramer went 3-for-3 at the plate with three RBIs, while Fisher, Kelly and Sandusky had two hits each. Moorehouse picked up the win, striking out nine in five innings of work.

In game two, Wheatland jumped on the Tigers with two runs in the top of the first, but it was Torrington’s 14-run third inning propelling them to an 18-3 win.

In the bottom of the first, Fisher led of the inning with a triple, and Clark followed it up with a double. A passed ball tied the game at two, and in the second, a Lobo wild pitch gave Torrington a 3-2 lead.

The Tiger offense exploded with 14 runs in the third before an RBI single by Kelly capped off the game’s scoring in the fourth inning.

Fisher went 3-for-3 at the plate, while Moorehouse and Kelly added two hits apiece. Kelly was credited with the win, striking out five in four innings.

Torrington ‘B’ team is now 10-12 on the season heading into the final doubleheader of the season.

The Tigers travel to Cheyenne on Saturday for games at 2 and 4 p.m. Torrington needs to win both to secure its place in the Class ‘B’ State Tournament which will be held in Rock Springs on July 20-23.
