TORRINGTON – This Wednesday, Berean Bible Church in Torrington hosted a Christmas concert featuring Kevin and Heidi Cheng. The duo, from Kearney, Nebraska, is involved in music programs at Frontier School of the Bible in La Grange and at Valley Christian School in Torrington. Kevin is a pianist and creates custom musical arrangements for the duo, while Heidi is a violinist who has performed with the Kearney Symphony Orchestra. Together, they infused excitement and beauty into familiar Christmas hymns.

The Chengs performed Oh Come, Oh Come, Emmanuel, Angels We Have Heard on High, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, The Love of God, Thou Didst Leave Thy Throne, Oh Little Town of Bethlehem, Oh Holy Night, Go Tell It on the Mountain, In the Bleak Midwinter, two parts of Handel’s Messiah, and a closing medley. Scripture readings were interspersed between the songs, including passages from Isaiah, Luke, Psalms, and Revelation.

Two of Kevin’s students from Frontier School of the Bible also performed piano solos. Alice Anderson performed Away in a Manger, and Abigail Lerum performed Living Hope by Phil Wickham.

“It is a delight to have Kevin and Heidi here with us as we celebrate Christmas. We welcome anyone to join us every Sunday at 10:45 a.m. to worship with us,” Pastor Brent Iden remarked.
