THS tennis splits with Rawlins; Blazers host the two Casper schools on Thursday

TORRINGTON – The Torrington High School tennis team opened conference play on Saturday against the Rawlins Outlaws.

The teams split with the Blazer boys picking up the team win, while the Lady Blazers fell to Rawlins.

In the boys’ division, there were only two matches on the card. Jorey Asmus picked up a 6-0, 6-1 victory at the No. 2 singles division. The only other match taking place was the No. 1 singles, and Adam Bartlett fell 6-3, 6-4. 

The Blazers picked up default wins in each of the three doubles matches to score a 4-1 team victory.

In the girls’ division, Madix McIntosh picked up the team’s lone win, picking up a 6-4, 6-2 victory.

Katie Watson fell 6-3, 6-4 in No. 1 singles action, while the No. 1 doubles team of Juliana Russell and Madison Hatch falling 6-3, 6-3. In No. 2 doubles action, Marlee Foy and Laney Grubbs fell 6-1, 4-6, 6-2. Meanwhile, in No. 3 doubles action, Haley DeFoe and Keelin Connelly lost 6-0, 6-1.

Torrington returns home to face Kelly Walsh at 10 a.m. and Natrona County at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 24.
