THS softball 1-1 vs. Cheyenne Central

CHEYENNE – The Torrington High School Lady Blazers girls’ softball team posted a win and a loss against Cheyenne Central’s varsity squad in a double-header on Tuesday, April 2.

The action opened with the Lady Blazers trouncing Central, 13-4, in the first game. 

Torrington secured an early lead, following a double by sophomore Skyla Wunder. In the second inning, freshman Aftyn Hager singled and sophomore Sinai Hernandez grounded out to maintain Torrington’s advantage.

Wunder doubled again in the third inning while freshman Jayden Chilson made a run on a single.

Sophomore Kennedy Reinhardt stepped up as pitcher for most the first game against Cheyenne, striking out eight hitters over the course of four innings.

Freshman Zaela Rios stole two bases during the game.

In the second game, Cheyenne Central turned the tables to win, 12-7.

Chilson, Reinhardt and Wunder each had a hit for Torrington while sophomore Laney Grubbs and senior Kailey Porter both drove in a run. 

Chilson served as pitcher throughout the second game, striking out two Cheyenne hitters.
