Thank you,
There are no words to express the gratitude I have for the many volunteer firemen who came from Yoder and Torrington to put out a grass fire which rapidly moved a quarter of a mile up the hill nearly engulfing my house yesterday, June 11. In all likelihood, the fire started with a spark from a car or from a cigarette tossed out of a car into the barrow pit. The firemen battled the blaze over two hours, managing to stop it just as it reached my propane tank. I am also forever indebted to Fred Reichert who initIally saw the fire and called it in. I believe his quick thinking saved not only my house but, most probably, my life. I would also like to thank the three Coop Propane employees, Roger Brelsford, John Rose, and Mike Lowry, who traveled from Cheyenne, Lusk, and Torrington to assist with safety issues with the propane tank. Finally, I want to thank my neighbors, John and Kay Dooley, who helped in any way they could. This grass fire was a stark reminder of how the very dry conditions can suddenly turn into a raging fire. An additional thank you to Yoder fire chief, Justin Burkhart and Torrington chief, Luis Correa.
Sincerely,
Kathy Moriarty
