TORRINGTON – Stephen Sam Harold, born on December 20, 1950, passed away on January 20, 2025. He was the son of Andrew and Mary Harold who proceeded him in death. He had three brothers: Larry, Melvin, and Terry and four sisters: Kathy, Pam, Tammy, and Mary Sue. Melvin, Kathy, Pam, and Mary Sue also proceeded him in death. He is survived by his wife Teresa, his sister Tammy, his sons Martin Johnson, Michael Johnson, Andrew Harold, and Richard Harold, many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. We do not know the status of Larry and Terry. Although he and Teresa did not have any children of their own, he treated her children and their children as his own. Ben, Trina, Jennifer, and Dillon were as much a part of him as his own children were.

He served in the United States Army with the 101st Airborne Division during Vietnam and later retired from the Wyoming National Guard after more than 25 years of service. We all remember helping him polish his boots at one point or another to help him get ready for Drill Weekend. And we all remember him bringing home his left-over rations for us to pilfer through. He also worked for the City of Torrington on the Streets and Sanitation Team in various positions eventually retiring as a supervisor.

He loved to spend time in his garden, fishing along the North Platte River, watching football on Sunday, and spending time with family and friends. Over the last few years, he spent time with his neighbor Trent building a truck to race on the local drag strips. Trent’s children were like his own grandchildren.

It is difficult to capture the expanse of who he was here but at times he was larger than life. He was a good man who demonstrated and demanded fairness and truth in us always.

His life spanned several decades and touched many lives. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
