YODER – The Southeast High School volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 (25-15, 25-6, 25-19) sweep of the Guernsey-Sunrise Lady Vikings on Tuesday evening in the team’s home and conference opener.

Southeast stormed out of the gates with a 3-0 lead behind a pair of serving aces from senior Baylie Booth, but the visitors weren’t going to go away quietly.

The Lady Vikings tied the set at five apiece and eventually took a brief 7-6 lead. A serving error and kills by junior Angie Logsdon put Southeast back in front for good in the opening set.

Southeast scored the final seven points of the set to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

In the second set, it was Kylee Llewellyn serving aiding a 6-0 Lady Cyclone lead. The Southeast senior served up five consecutive aces.

Guernsey got no closer than four for the remainder of the set. With Southeast leading 12-6, the Lady Cyclones capped off the set with 13 straight points.

In the third set, the Lady Vikings looked to prevent the sweep, grabbing an early 3-1 advantage, but this time, it was sophomore Keana Llewellyn serving Southeast back into the game. She tied the game at four each and served up four aces in five serving attempts to give the Lady Cyclones an 8-4 lead.

Southeast’s lead as many as 9-4 before Guernsey made one more run, taking a brief 11-10 lead. A serving error by the visitors tied the set and on the ensuing point, Southeast regained the lead for good for the remainder of the match.

Southeast (4-4) returns home at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16 against Rock River.
