TORRINGTON – Main Street Market collected donations for the Goshen County Task Force on Family Violence and Sexual Assault (GCTF) during the Purple Doves campaign this year. Board members Talitha Fleenor and Michelle Brooks along with executive director Michelle Powell collected the donation totaling $3,750 from the store Wednesday.

“The real winners are the great people of Goshen County who support the event by purchasing a purple dove at check out at Main Street Market. One-hundred percent of the funds raised stay in Goshen County and are set aside to help people in the county who are victims of domestic violence and sexual assault,” Michelle Powell, executive director, said.

Powell added that these crimes are ranked as one of the top crimes in the world with one in four persons being affected by domestic violence, the task force explained.

As part of the fundraiser, prizes are offered to the Main Street Market employee who raises the most money. This year Shelly Eisenbarth and Kiera Stafford collected the most donations.

“She (Shelly) does a great job for us”, Brooks said.

“We couldn’t do it without everyone’s support,” Powell concluded.
