Pictured from left to right, City of Torrington Mayor, Herb Doby, Doris MacDonald, retired public defender David MacDonald and Becky Doby gathered in front of the courthouse on the morning of Thursday, July 4 to read and recite the United States Declaration of Independence. The reading came as a suggestion from the MacDonalds. They hope to go the event next year so others in the community can recognize the importance of the declaration and our nation's history.
