TORRINGTON – Though not initially included on the company’s closure lists, the pharmacy at the local Shopko store in Torrington will be closing this month.
The company notified the local store about two weeks ago of the pending closure. When the company announced its reorganization in mid-January, the only Wyoming store included on the list of planned pharmacy closures was in Greybull.
While the pharmacy will close, the Torrington Shopko is in the company’s so-called “go-forward” list. Also on the list of stores which will remain open are Wheatland, as well as Afton, Douglas, Newcastle, Buffalo and Powell.
Stores in Lander, Green River, Thermopolis, Mountain View, Greybull and Worland will be closing sometime in the spring.
Shopko Public Relations Director Michelle Hansen issued the following statement Thursday in response to email queries: “As part of the Chapter 11 process, we have made the difficult decision to exit our pharmacy business. On Jan. 23, Shopko sold many of our pharmacies through a court-supervised auction process. The Torrington Pharmacy Assets were sold to Walgreens.
“The pharmacy will close on 2/11.”
