Area first responders had the opportunity to interact positively with the community on Friday as they participated in the annual shop with a cop event held at the local Bomgaars location. Current shoppers in the store and Bomgaars employees enjoyed watching the officer/child duos racing through the store.
“We are grateful for the hard work that the team at the Goshen County Sheriff’s Department puts in to make this event possible. It is our pleasure to help out with the shopping,” Torrington Chief of Police, Matt Johnson said. “One of our officers had the opportunity to shop with a number of kiddos that they have worked with at one of our local schools. It was a blessing for all of them.” Johnson stopped for a moment to evaluate his shopping list during the annual shop with cops event.
The Torrington Volunteer Fire Department transported children to Bomgaars for the annual Shop with Cops event in Torrington just before Christmas. Area youth interacted with emergency first responders.
Throughout the store, deputy sheriffs, police officers, game wardens, highway patrolmen/women and firefighters were seen with shopping carts and Christmas lists.
