TORRINGTON – For a few hours on Saturday, July 1, the Dale Jones Municipal Pool turned into “The Shark Tank,” as the Torrington Sharks swim team hosted its home meet of the 2023 season.

TORRINGTON – For a few hours on Saturday, July 1, the Dale Jones Municipal Pool turned into “The Shark Tank,” as the Torrington Sharks swim team hosted its home meet of the 2023 season.

The Sharks had a strong showing, fielding 50 swimmers and netting 25 first-place finishes.  

“We had an amazing day at our home meet,” head coach Baxter Greenwald said. “The swimmers had so much support from families, friends and sponsors. It is great to see all their hard work recognized.”

“You could definitely tell the swimmers felt the support because we had a lot of personal records and first-place finishes,” Greenwald said. “These kids just keep getting faster and surprising us all every meet. We have one more meet for the season, and we can’t wait to see what they can prove at our culminating event for the league.”

The Sharks wrap up their season next week in Sidney, Nebraska, on July 8. The Sidney meet serves as the league’s “medal meet,” or season finale. The top three winners in each event will receive a coveted medal for their efforts.
