CHEYENNE – The Southeast High School Lady Cyclones boarded the bus for an intense weekend of competition at the James Johnson Winter Showcase hosted by Cheyenne Central from January 9-11.
The tournament featured games pitting the Lady Cyclones against larger 3A and 4A teams. The action opened with Southeast coming up short against Green River, 41-24.
The Lady Cyclones played Cheyenne Central’s junior varsity squad on Friday with Southeast falling, 44-33. On Saturday, the Lady Cyclones dropped a game to Wheatland, 43-20.
“We played some large schools in Cheyenne against tough competition, but I was kind of disappointed with our team and didn’t think they reached my expectations this weekend” coach Jennifer Scheer said. “Against Wheatland, I saw good things from the girls – better and more encouraging stretches. We have lots of things to work on. The small details make the largest impact and we will focus on cleaning up the little things.”
