“Outstanding Library of the Year”

TORRINGTON – The Wyoming Library Association (WLA) has honored the Goshen County Library with the title of Outstanding Library of the Year, recognizing it as a standout example of innovation, community service, and dedication in Wyoming’s library community.

Each year, the WLA presents this award to a library that has completed a significant project in the past two years that enhances user services, builds creative partnerships, strengthens collections, supports staff development, or improves physical spaces.

This year, Goshen County Library earned the honor for three major initiatives that have transformed both its facilities and the experiences of its patrons. These include the creation of a new outdoor community space behind the Activity Center, the development of a fully equipped makerspace offering advanced tools for creative and technical projects, and extensive accessibility improvements inside the library to ensure all visitors can easily enjoy its collections and spaces.

These accomplishments build on the library’s long-standing commitment to innovation and inclusion. GCL continues to offer Goshen County’s only indoor play and discovery space for young children, maintain five StoryWalks across the county, and host a full calendar of early literacy and STEM programs. The library also plays a vital role in supporting local health and technology access through its telehealth booth, blood pressure kits, and memory care resources. For older adults, the library provides creative aging programs designed to foster intergenerational connection and support the unique needs of Goshen County’s senior community.

“We are truly honored by this recognition from the Wyoming Library Association,” said Cristine Braddy, Director of the Goshen County Library. “This award belongs to our dedicated staff, who do the work of a much larger team, and to the Goshen community, who shows up for us every single day. We are committed to continuing to find creative ways to provide essential, innovative, and enthusiastic service, proving that the ‘little library that could’ is here to serve everyone.”

With limited resources but boundless creativity, the Goshen County Library continues to prove that even a small library can make a big difference. Congratulations to the library staff and volunteers on this significant award!
