TORRINGTON – No services will be held for Oliver “Wendell” Shindledecker, 91, who passed away June 9, 2024, at Torrington Community Hospital and cremation has taken place. Colyer Funeral Home assisted the family with the cremation arrangements.
He was born December 31, 1932, in Bushnell, Nebraska to John and Hazel Shindledecker. He went to grade school in Torrington and graduated from high school in Derby, Colorado. Wendell was a welder on the USS Helena in 1954. Some of his hobbies included fishing and hunting in the Colorado and Wyoming high country. He worked for the United Buckingham in Commerce City as a mechanic. Eventually came back to Wyoming to help his sister and brother in-law farm. When his health started to become a problem, he moved into assisted living.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents John and Hazel, brother John, six sisters: Arlene, Christina Parker, Rose Wunder, Ida Brewer, Pat Ashmore and Betty.
