TORRINGTON – A Celebration of Life for Marjorie E. Smith, 88, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 21, 2023 at First Wyoming United Presbyterian Church with Reverend Bruce McBurney officiating. A luncheon will follow services at the American Legion. Cremation has taken place. Marjorie “Marge” went home to be with the Lord and her family in heaven on June 27, 2023. Marge was born April 5, 1935, in Torrington to Godfrey and Esther (Steinmetz) Ochsner. Marge was raised on the family ranch north of Torrington. She graduated from Torrington High School in 1953, then worked at Citizen Bank as a teller, where she met her future husband, Sam Smith. Marge and Sam were married on February 9, 1957. They had two sons, Kevin and Kent. Marge was a dedicated mother and wife. She was a stay-at-home mother and housewife before taking a job as an auctioneer clerk at Torrington Livestock, where she worked for 10 years. In 1981, Marge and Sam, along with other investors, helped start Lingle State Bank and continued to work there part-time until 2020. 

Marge is survived by her two sons Kevin (Susan) and Kent (Catherine); grandchildren Josiah (Jennifer) Smith, Wylie (Marcos) Martinez, Kyleen Smith, Roman (Kelsy) Smith, Elisa Smith, Halle Smith; her sister Delores Hatch; her great- grandchildren Bailey, Beau, Tayce Martinez, Jaelyn, and Josdyn Smith. Marge was preceded in death by her husband Sam, brothers Jack and George Ochsner, nephews Larry Hatch and Bradley McLeod, and nieces Kayleen Galloway and Tammy Korell. Marge will be remembered as an exceptionally kind and genuine person. She will be forever missed by her family and friends.
