SCOTTSBLUFF   Two Goshen County athletes were selected to play in the Panhandle Prep Sports Magazine all-star games hosted by Scottsbluff High School on May 24.

Southeast High School graduate and former Lady Cyclone Baylie Booth was named to the red girls team while Lingle-Fort Laramie graduate and former Lady Dogger Natalie Speckner made the blue girls team roster.

Lingle-Fort Laramie head girls’ basketball coach Susan Bartel was chosen to coach the Blue girls team along with Morrill’s Josh Guerue.

Booth received 2024 1A all-state and all-conference accolades, along with the 1A East Player of the Year Award. Speckner earned 2A all-state honors in 2023 and 2024, along with all-conference recognition in 2024.

Bartel garnered the 2024 SEWAC Coach of the Year Award. The Lady Doggers posted a 22-6 overall record on the season and an undefeated 6-0 conference record.

Tipoff for the Panhandle all-star girls game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The finals for the dunk contest take place at halftime of the girls game and the 3-point contest immediately follows the conclusion of the girls game.

Scholarships will be presented during halftime of the boys game.

Athletes gather that morning for a full day of practices, team photos and the prelims for the 3-point shootout and dunk contest.
