Lingle electric customers will likely see their rates go up next year, and Mayor George Siglin wants the increase to come in two smaller steps instead of one big one.
During a discussion at Wednesday’s Lingle Town Council meeting, Siglin suggested raising the town’s electric rate by 1 cent, to 16 cents per kilowatt-hour, starting with the first billing cycle of 2027. The town would then adjust rates again once it learns how much its wholesale power supplier will raise its prices next July.
Siglin said he wanted to spread the increase out “so it’s not all sticker shock” on July 1.
