She married Vern Lackey on September 12, 1954, at the Presbyterian Church in Huntley and to this union four children were born: Tim, Kerby, Curtis and Lana. They were married 43 years before Vern’s passing. She worked as a para in Goshen County for 30 years helping many children along the way. She taught herself to play the piano, accordion and steel guitar, in fact she and a very close friend Lew Russell traveled around to the local senior centers and played music for many people. Lila was a very active member of the Federated Church where she loved to socialize with people she loved. It was often said that she never knew a stranger. Lila was a very devoted family woman, and her children and grandchildren never had to guess of her love for them. She will be deeply missed by all those that knew her.
