LFL/SE squares off at SEWAC Quad

LUSK – The combined Lingle-Fort Laramie/Southeast (LFL/SE) boys and girls wrestling teams opened the final week of the regular season with success at the SEWAC Quad hosted by Niobrara County High School on Tuesday, February 11.

The LFL/SE girls defeated both Burns-Pine Bluffs, 30-24, and Glenrock, 36-12. The boys went 1-2, beating Burns-Pine Bluffs (42-36) and falling to Glenrock (60-24) and a combined Lusk-Upton team (42-33).

Four LFL/SE boys posted undefeated records in their respective weight classes – senior Louden Bremer, senior Nathan Fish, junior Colter McFarlin and senior Emmett Coxbill. Senior Alec DeMarce and freshman Kaiden Hill both went 2-1.

In the girls duals, freshman Abbey Boyd, sophomore Trinity Martin and juniors Kennedi Blevins, Avery VanGundy and Hallie Fuller each recorded 2-0 records. Sophomore Olivia Kile went 1-1.

Burns-Pine Bluffs Dual

Bremer kicked off the boys dual between LFL/SE and Burns-Pine Bluffs with a pin against his opponent 40 seconds into the 165-pound match.

Coxbill also made quick work of his rival in the 215-pound bracket with a pin at 49 seconds.

Hill won the 113-pound match by fall at 3 minutes, 4 seconds.

Freshman Garrett Henderson defeated his opponent at 126 pounds by pin midway into the second period.

McFarlin (285 pounds) and Fish (120 pounds) both won by open forfeit.

Freshman DeAngelo Gann won an exhibition match by pin in the first period at 215 pounds.

In the girls’ dual, Fuller pinned her rival at 140 pounds with one second remaining in the first period. 

Boyd (100 pounds), Blevins (110), VanGundy (130) and Martin (155) each won by open forfeit.

Junior Lilley Lawrence pinned her opponent in the first period of an exhibition match.

Glenrock

Coxbill scored the first win for the LFL/SE boys at 215 pounds, felling his rival from Glenrock with two seconds remaining in the first period.

At 285 pounds, McFarlin won by fall 1:37 into the match.

Bremer fought his opponent at 165 pounds into the second period before winning by pin.

Fish won by open forfeit at 120 pounds.

In the girls’ dual, Blevins pinned her rival from Glenrock at 1:46.

VanGundy (130 pounds), Fuller (140), Kile (145) and Martin (155) each won by open forfeit.

Full results from the Lusk-Upton dual were not available at press time, although Bremer, Fish, DeMarce, McFarlin, Coxbill and Hill all won their matches in the boys dual.

LFL/SE hosts Cheyenne East for its final home dual on Friday at 4 p.m. at Lingle-Fort Laramie High School.
