LINGLE – A strong weekend for the combined Lingle-Fort Laramie/Southeast (LFL/SE) girls wrestling team opened with a 30-24 victory against Burns-Pine Bluffs in a dual before the home crowd in Lingle on Thursday, January 16.
LFL/SE followed its success up with a solid showing at the annual Gering girls’ invitational on Saturday. LFL/SE progressed to sixth place on the team leaderboard in a field of 14 schools, posting 63.5 points.
Junior Kennedi Blevins set the pace for LFL/SE at Gering, capturing gold in the 110-pound bracket.
“It was great to see our teams come out on top with a dual victory (against Burns-Pine Bluffs),” coach Brandon Gifford said. “I thought both our boys and girls wrestled well and we won the matches we needed to win. Kennedi Blevins was outstanding getting a championship this weekend (in Gering). She has turned the corner moving forward in the right direction heading into February. We have a tough three-week stretch coming up where we need to not only fix some positional pieces but also need to begin our phase of getting ready to peak come regionals and state.”
