LUSK – The combined Lingle-Fort Laramie/Southeast (LFL/SE) boys’ wrestling team kicked off the 2024-2025 winter season with a second-place finish at the annual Tiger Invitational hosted by Niobrara County High School on Friday, December 13.
LFL/SE scored 130 team points to advance to second place ahead of 14 programs from across Wyoming, Nebraska and northern Colorado.
Four grapplers captured championships – senior Louden Bremer at 165 pounds, senior Carter Blevins (190 pounds), senior Alec DeMarce (215 pounds) and junior Colter McFarlin (285 pounds).
“Everyone’s efforts guided LFL/SE to 130 team points and a second-place finish,” assistant coach Chris McNees said. “Louden Bremer handled his championship great as he won by technical fall. Carter Blevins, Alec DeMarce and Colter McFarlin all won their championship matches by pin.”
“Kaiden Hill had to wrestle well against a tough Saratoga opponent (in the title match) and fell by technical fall,” McNees added. “Nathan Fish fell to the returning state champion from Glenrock in a down-to-the-wire match. Nathan had the wing hooked up in the second and third periods and couldn’t get (Brody) Allen turned. As time was running out, Allen scored a later reversal to go up, 10-9.”
On Saturday, the LFL/SE boys’ team secured 13th place with 65.6 points at the Charlie Lake tournament in Cheyenne. Twenty-six schools of all classifications from Wyoming and Nebraska competed at the event.
Senior Nathan Fish clinched the championship at 120 pounds at Charlie Lake.
“We had a very good start to our wrestling season for both the boys and girls,” coach Brandon Gifford said. “I thought we started a bit slow and nerves maybe got the best of us in a few matches but overall, the kids battled well and were able to come away with some big wins. It was great to see Nathan Fish come away with a title at a tough Charlie Lake Invite.”
