MOORCROFT – Two days of competition at the Dylan Humes Memorial Mixer in Moorcroft resulted in a bag full of hardware for both the combined Lingle-Fort Laramie/Southeast (LFL/SE) girls and boys wrestling teams.

The event took place on Friday and Saturday, January 24-25 and consisted of nearly 30 teams from across Wyoming and Montana.

The LFL/SE boys clinched eighth place out of 29 programs with 95 team points. The girls team finished 13th overall, tallying 59 points.

“While we didn’t finish on the podium where we wanted, I thought we battled very well and we are putting ourselves in the right wrestling positions to win those matches,” coach Brandon Gifford said. “That is half the battle – getting ourselves in those positions. It will be critical for us to improve on winning those situations moving forward as we prepare for a tough weekend (at Ron Thon) and the upcoming postseason.”

Seniors Nathan Fish and Louden Bremer led in the boys tournament with second-place finishes.

Weighing in at 120 pounds, Fish won the quarterfinals against Ryan Wiggins of Forsyth, Montana, by technical fall (18-1).

In the 165-pound bracket, Bremer defeated Brady Garoutte of Moorcroft by a 15-2 major decision in the quarterfinals.

Squaring off against Ethan Hague of Kelly Walsh in the semifinals, Bremer won by a 7-5 decision.
