GERING – LaVern Hermina Wiegel, 91, of Gering, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2024, at the United Church of Christ in Lyman, Nebraska with Pastor Bob Smith officiating.
Interment will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Torrington. Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the church on Friday.
It is respectfully requested that in lieu of any flowers, memorials in LaVern’s honor be made in care of the United Church of Christ in Lyman.

LaVern was born July 2, 1932, to Fred and Hermina (Erhlich) Morgheim. LaVern attended Huntley Schools during her younger years. She married Gottlieb Wiegel, Jr. June 29, 1952. To this union three children were born. Robert L. Wiegel, Geraldine J. Wiegel and Richard A. Wiegel.
LaVern was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, four brothers and one sister.
LaVern is survived by daughter, Geraldine, son Richard (Rita), eight grandchildren, fourteen- and one-half great grandchildren.
