Anderson wins all-around title at Shawn Dubie Memorial Rodeo

CHEYENNE – The Eastern Wyoming College (EWC) Lancer rodeo team traveled to Cheyenne, Wyoming for the Shawn Dubie Memorial College Rodeo from October 11-13. Thirteen Lancer athletes made it back to short go Sunday. 

The EWC men’s team placed third overall with 390 points.

Sophomore Carter Anderson, from Merriman, Nebraska, had a great weekend overall after winning the average in the tie down and placing fourth in the team roping average, clinching enough points to win the men’s all-around title.

It was a great weekend in tie-down roping with three EWC sophomores making it back to short-go on Sunday. Anderson had a great run at 9.1 seconds to place fourth in the long-go. 

Anderson came back Sunday to take second in the short-go with a 9.6-second run, clinching the victory in the average for the weekend. 

Colton Zimmerman had a 9.6-second run to place sixth in the in the long-round. Zimmerman also had a fantastic short-go run with 10.0 seconds flat, leaving him 19.6 on two and placing third in the average. 

Cooper Phillips had a 10.4-second run in the long-go and 12.0 seconds with a 22.4 average to place seventh.

In the team roping, header Edgar Aguilar and heeler Zimmerman had a great run in the long-go at 7.4 seconds, placing second. After having some tough luck in the short-go, the team ended up fifth in the average. 

Anderson and Dalton Moore had a successful long-round run with a quick time of 6.7 seconds to place first for the long-go. The team took fourth in the average. 

Nick Albrecht had a 9.4-second run in the long-go with his partner Keyton Hayden from Gillette College to place ninth. In the short-go Albrecht, and his partner had a time of 12.3 seconds, placing second while taking third in the average.

In the bulldogging, T.C. Hughson had a 6.3-second run to place nint in the long-go. In the short-go, Hughson put down a 15.7-second run for eighth place. 

EWC’s Teagan Gourneau had a 6.4-second run to place 10th in the long-go and 10th in the average. 

In the bareback riding, Cian Daly had a score of 59 to place seventh in the long-go. Daly covered his horse again in the short-go Sunday to score a 55, placing him seventh in the average.

Trey Tuplin had a good saddle bronc ride in the long-go with a score of 66 on the first horse and with no luck on Sunday, the Freshman from EWC placed seventh in the average. 

Brenna Herring had a fast time in the breakaway roping at 2.7 seconds to tie for 10th, 11th and 12th. Herring placed 11th in the average for the weekend. 

Isabelle Camino had a quick time in the long-go at 2.5 seconds and placed ninth in the average.

In goat tying, Abby Collen had a solid 8.5-second run, placing 10th in the long-go. On Sunday, the freshman had a 7.8-second run to finish sixth.
