TORRINGTON – Eastern Wyoming College Lancer golfer Braylon Bingham signed to continue his golf career at Southern Utah University (SUU) in Cedar City, Utah.
“I’m super excited for this great opportunity,” Bingham said.
Signing with SUU will take Bingham home. The EWC sophomore is from Cedar City and said he grew up with many of his future teammates and took courses at SUU while in high school.
“They are getting a new indoor facility and I really like the school, the campus, the teachers and the coach,” Bingham said. “I am very grateful to the coach for giving me this opportunity.”
Bingham described his two years at EWC as “great.”
“I grew as a golfer and as a person,” he added. “My coach (Zach Smith) has taught me a lot of great lessons. I’ve learned to be a leader on and off the golf course.”
“Braylon has been great since day one,” coach Smith said. “He is a great student, golfer, friend and leader on this campus. He’s a guy that you know will never give up and give you everything he has no matter how things are going. He has done a great job being our team captain this year. I know he’ll play great for SUU and do some amazing things in his life. We are going to miss him here.”
Winning the Region IX Championship last year was a highlight of Bingham’s career at EWC.
“I played really good at Nationals last year,” Bingham said. “I’ve enjoyed my time at EWC and being around my best friends these last two years.”
The team will be back in action this spring and Bingham said, “We have a great team and have a good shot at Nationals again this year.”
