TORRINGTON – The Eastern Wyoming College (EWC) Lady Lancers rounded out 2024 with back-to-back home victories against both the Nebraska and Wyoming all-stars in a fun, friendly environment on December 13-14.
On Friday, EWC trounced the Wyoming all-stars by a 131-47 margin. Saturday’s game pitted the Lady Lancers against the Nebraska all-stars team with EWC posting the win, 103-51.
Wyoming all-stars
EWC set the tone for the game against the Wyoming all-stars by outscoring their opponent, 26-12, in the first half.
Leaving it all on the court in the second half, a fast and furious Lady Lancers offense netted 42 points while a gritty EWC defense held the Wyoming all-stars to only eight points.
The halftime score favored the Lady Lancers by a whopping 68-20 margin.
EWC continued to top the Wyoming all-stars in scoring in the third quarter, 35-23, to establish a 103-43 lead going into the final eight minutes of regulation.
An explosive fourth quarter that saw the Lady Lancers net 28 points to four by the Wyoming all-stars clinched the win for EWC.
Six Lady Lancers scored double digits against the Wyoming all-stars, led by sophomore Aliya Tripp with 35 points and fellow sophomore Nikolina Vukcevic with 30 points.
Freshman Yaiza Paredes contributed 16 points, sophomore Josephine Vourliotis 14, freshman Rhia Saggar 12 and freshman Kacey Parks 10.
Sophomore Boden Liljedahl rounded the tally out with eight points while freshman Ariadna Martinez tallied six.
Vukcevic and Tripp both went double-double with 21 rebounds and 16 rebounds, respectively.
Liljedahl and Paredes both shared the ball for seven assists.
Defensively, Vukcevic snagged four steals while Saggar, Tripp and Paredes each picked up three steals. Liljedahl, Vukcevic and Tripp each totaled one block.
Nebraska all-stars
The Lady Lancers won the first half against the Nebraska all-stars, 26-17.
EWC stepped up the intensity in the second quarter, outpacing the Nebraska all-stars, 26-7.
The Lady Lancers led, 52-24, at halftime.
EWC maintained the pressure into the second half, netting another 51 points in the third and fourth quarter while holding the Nebraska all-stars to 27 points.
Five Lady Lancers finished the game with double-digit scoring. Paredes led with 25 points while Tripp contributed 23 points. Vukcevic tossed in 14 points, Martinez 11, Vourliotis 10, Liljedahl nine, Saggar six and Parks five.
Martinez and Paredes both went double-double. Paredes pulled down 14 rebounds and Martinez tallied 10.
Liljedahl delivered six assists. Parks, Paredes and Liljedahl each rustled three steals while Martinez and Saggar both made one block.
