LINGLE – A resounding 3-0 victory by the Lingle-Fort Laramie (LFL) Lady Doggers volleyball team against the Guernsey-Sunrise Lady Vikings capped off Homecoming Week on Friday, September 20.
The Lady Doggers’ triumph over Guernsey also kicked off a successful weekend that saw LFL collect two additional conference wins against both Hanna-Elk Mountain and Rock River on the road on Saturday.
“Each week, we pick one goal to accomplish and going 3-0 was part of that goal, as well as continuing to hit the ball and strive for excellent ball control and precise passing,” coach Emily Cottrell said. “This weekend we had a chance to play some of the younger girls in with the starters which is always a good look at the bench and the potential to move people around as needed. Overall, the girls play together for each other and continue to strive to our post-season goals.”
The team chemistry among LFL’s starters gelled throughout the weekend, Cottrell added.
“(Senior) Brenly Shipp and (junior) Skyla Wunder continue to run to the offense and keep the momentum going on the floor,” Cottrell said. “(Junior) Jordynn Speckner is just solid all the way around and (junior) Hallie Fuller is a powerhouse at the net. Sophomore Charlotte Speckner is really coming into herself and hitting the ball well. Our libero, (senior) Kenzie Wilkins just doesn’t let the ball drop and her passes are exceptional. We couldn’t run an offense without her.”
LFL’s three back-to-back wins propelled the Lady Doggers to the No. 1 spot in the 1A Southeast Quadrant on Monday with a 4-0 conference record.
